Roman Aqueduct "Formina"

The Roman aqueduct known as the "Mould" was probably built by curator aquarum Nerva in 27 AD during the reign of Tiberius. The aqueduct is about 13 km long and maintains a constant slope. It winds along the hillsides, crosses three mountains with many tunnels and across bridges overcome some rivers.

The association Subterranea offers the opportunity to discover a fascinating underground Roman aqueduct in the only open to the public in Italy. You can walk into a conduit 700 meters long, to understand the difficulties overcome by the workers during the excavation of the rock, admiring the fantastic concretions, and then exit through a steep staircase carved into the rock, from a well 18 meters deep. Spare clothes and shoes are essential. The tour is not recommended for those suffering from claustrophobia, and has heart problems  and for those over 100 kg.

The adventure is' ASSURED! The visit is made from March 1 to October 30 in the days before holidays and holidays by appointment, sending at least 10 days before the identity of participants. The cost is 20 € per person, includes guide, helmet and insurance.
